Things We've Read, Watched, Done

Some Things We've Read...

Over the past month and a half or so, the periodicals we've read:

Jaden's

Olivia's

Trusten's,  including some of his paper booklets from his Phonics Readers

Some Things We've Watched Outside...

Elizabeth at her "looking window" watching snow fall

We've seen deer out our front window across the street and then (pictured here to left) a doe and fawn on the hill across the creek behind us.  Our chickens are always fun to watch.  Here they are going up and down the hill right behind our house.

The kids and I saw some bald eagles one morning during a trip to the post office.  Can you see more than one in this picture? The biggest downside to my iPhone is the clarity loss on zoomed photos.

Things We've Done...

One of Jaden's latest inventions on which he's still working.  Yes, that should be "twisted."  The bottom picture is the first one, and then he drew a different one on top, so the top picture is a modified version of the same. He carved and smoothed the propeller himself and correctly made angles (can you tell?).  I didn't have a lot of faith in his sticks, and indeed he said afterward that they weren't going to work, so he's still working on this, but when he's done I will get to witness his testing it, so I'll be sure to film.

Elizabeth's first Sabbath 4-wheeler ride with Daddy.  She just gets to putt along in the yard (hence why she's not bundled, whereas Nathan had been going down the road with the other children).

Eating lunch outside after a day of getting dirty in the mud (Trust and Liv had stripped naked, so I brought them clean shirts before they ate).  Jade had requested garbanzo bean taco salad (garbanzos and blue corn tortilla chips with taco seasoning and trimmings), and Liv opted for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but then she decided she wanted some taco salad after we had all taken it all.  Luckily for her, Trusten left some of his behind, and she scavenged it.  ;-)

Next post I will cover Jaden's and my finishing The Children's Homer and the important lessons learned from it, as well as Jaden's first written book report.  Also up is the first installment of "Book of the Week."  I'll explain the details then.

Until next time...
